Install LayerCAD on Linux

The Linux download is not ready yet.

What you need

A graphics card with a working Vulkan driver. Without one, LayerCAD shows an error and closes. Most virtual machines do not have one.

Install it

The download is a single program file, maker. Put it with your own programs and let it run:

mkdir -p ~/.local/bin
mv ~/Downloads/maker ~/.local/bin/
chmod +x ~/.local/bin/maker

Start it

Open a terminal and run:

maker

If the terminal says the command is not found, ~/.local/bin is not on your path. Run it as ~/.local/bin/maker, or add that folder to your path and open a new terminal.

Update it

Download the new file and move it over the old one, as above.

Remove it

rm ~/.local/bin/maker

Your settings are kept in ~/.config/maker. Delete that folder too if you want nothing left behind. Your own files are not touched.
